EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

In October 2025, the DREAMING in Sport Collaboratory convened the Advancing Mobility Justice, Gender Equity, Climate Justice and Sustainable Development through Sport Symposium – a gathering that brought together community activists, scholars, practitioners, and change-makers committed to advancing justice through sport and movement-based approaches.

This post-event report presents a comprehensive overview of the symposium’s key themes, sessions, and outcomes. It documents critical conversations on mobility justice, gender equity, climate justice, and sustainable development, and highlights the insights shared by leading voices across research, practice, and community organizing. The report also details knowledge dissemination activities, including notable panels, emerging research directions, social media outputs, and proposed next steps for future collaboration and action.

Collectively, the symposium underscored the transformative potential of sport as a site for feminist, climate, and mobility justice interventions. Participants emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, community-led approaches, and sustained institutional support in addressing intersecting forms of inequality and environmental vulnerability.

This report serves not only as an archive of the symposium, but as a resource for scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and community organizations seeking to advance equitable and sustainable development through sport. It reflects the collective labour, care, and intellectual generosity of the symposium community and affirms the DREAMING in Sport Collaboratory’s ongoing commitment to fostering generative dialogue and action through 2026 and beyond.
